What Was the Inspiration for the Name, Prints & Patterns?

Curtains, can you believe it? It really was a pair of curtains! Let me tell you why they were so important. I had just bought my home and I was personally tasked with the exciting assignment of decorating it from top to bottom. One of the things that I promised myself early on was that if I bought something and didn’t like it, I would return it as I didn’t want to have anything in my home that I didn’t really, really like.

So, when it came to covering the windows, I can’t tell you how many curtains that I returned to the store. My color was gray, and I probably bought every shade from dove gray to charcoal gray in hopes of finding a shade that would compliment my décor scheme. Well, unfortunately, none of the solid colors worked!
While browsing through curtains at one of my favorite home stores (more about that later), I came across a pair of gray, white and tan curtains in a beautiful paisley pattern. This has to be it, I thought to myself, so I went home and hung them up, and they were absolutely beautiful. It was then that I realized what I liked so much about them, it was the pattern. To be precise, I liked the high-end and elegant look of the paisley and how it incorporated both the light and dark shades of gray in unison with the white and tan tones. I couldn’t believe how nice they looked on the windows. I ended up hanging them on both the dining and living room windows which really enhanced the style. Since the living room leads into the dining room I considered them as being ‘married to each other’. This helped to create a complimenting and cohesive look overall.

Now, not surprisingly, every window in the house has curtains that have a print or pattern. The colors flow very nicely and they truly add interest to each room. Once having this ‘aha moment’, I couldn’t begin to imagine using a solid color curtain. The pattern really added another dimension that had been missing in my shopping adventures.
So, to answer the question posed in the blog title: As I was choosing a name for my interior decorating business I thought about something that was very influential in my decorating scheme, and that was? Yes, you guessed it, Prints & Patterns LLC. That’s how we came to be originated.
I’m looking forward to meeting with clients as we work together to create their dream spaces. And, maybe, while we’re at it, we’ll discover a few prints and/or patterns to include in the final design. Cheers to decorating with a design concept that is meaningful to you and your unique style!
